
辟穀術
《道家辟穀術》PiGuShu is the practice of Daoist fasting. Its function includes:

Increase longevity by purging the body of toxins & impurities in the intestines and the blood.

Cleanses the blood

"Forces" the body to absorb the Qi from nature due to the lack of sustenance from food.

Balance the mind & body.
-
Lose weight.
-
Improve health.
-
Improve quality of sleep.

Improve beauty.
Do note that determination and the mental state is important during PiGu. It is advisable for beginners to start with short intervals, slowly reducing physical activity and food intake before fully abstaining from food. It is advisable to practise in a humid environment. If you are practising in a dry & arid place, your body will rapidly lose moisture.
During PiGu, usable sustenance (depending on one's level of practice) includes:

Shen
Saliva is also important during PiGu. You should slowly swallow your saliva, leading it into your lower DanTian. If you are lacking in saliva, you can rotate your tongue in your mouth to stimulate saliva production.(Known as Dragon Stirring The Seas)
